Welcome to Magical Stage!

Welcome to Magical Stage!

Hello everyone, and welcome to a new blog website…thing! Welcome to Magical Stage, a fun anime blog! Honestly, I can’t think of a better way to describe what this place is going to be.

Yeah.

Why have you made your own blog website?

The Internet has become a scary place. It’s time to go back to the past and do what any self-respecting person who has boatloads of creativity needing an outlet would do. Make a website. For many years I’ve used a certain social media service designed for birds to make a bit of a name for myself. Unfortunately, the website was turned into a letter by a putrid, smelly man and it has now become increasingly hostile for people to share their creativity and meet other cool, likeminded people.

This website is the first step in effectively getting myself off of there and I hope that people find inspiration in what I’ve done so that they too can do the same. Magical Stage is the stage for me to do what I like, on my own terms.

You don’t see Ririka writing a twenty tweet long thread about eggs do you?

Why call it Magical Stage?

Did you know that Ojamajo Doremi is the best magical girl anime ever? I can’t actually get that show out of my head since I watched it over 10 years ago (doctors to this day have no idea how I got it in there). A show about girls who got together to be witches and worked together to hopefully make things a little better for their community.

I don’t have lofty goals for this website or anything. I’m not planning to cause a revolution, interview half the anime industry or team up with Mamoru Hosoda to fight an army of Croque monsieur zombies at the Annecy Film Festival. Though admittedly, that last one does sound pretty cool.

At the moment, it is just me writing on this site but maybe eventually some other folks would like to write on here too. Though if me writing again, putting stuff out there and making my own website encourages more people to write about anime, then I think I’ve met my aims for what I want this website to do.

I don’t know if a miracle will happen as a result of this website existing, but if an article on here makes you smile, then I’m happy.

What is going to be on Magical Stage?

Now despite the name giving off the impression that this website is primarily focused on Magical Girl anime, it’s actually about all kinds of anime (I’m sure that won’t come back to bite me in the future). You’ll find articles about lots of different things I write about!

Definitive Anime Review will of course still be continuing on Magical Stage. The anime industry continue to be…an industry. For all the good that comes out of anime, the industry (and in some cases, its fans) causes bad to happen. For as long as there are villains in the industry, Definitive Anime Review will be there to make fun of them. You can also still read the full archive of my articles from my old days too.

I’ll also be moving and expanding on many of the threads that I’ve posted on Twitter over the last few years. I’m going to explore anime timeslots again, showcasing the ebbs and flows of anime airing on traditional broadcast television in Japan. Several of my old timeslot threads will be expanded on Magical Stage in a new, as of yet unnamed block of articles.

I’ve also got some other exciting things that I’ve thought up of in my brain that are yet to be fully formulated as features on Magical Stage. Mostly because they’re a bit more ambitious and daring to carry out. You’ll get to hear about them as soon as they become a real, physical thing.

I will try not to post threads on Twitter anymore, keeping all the goodness right here on Magical Stage. Writing long form articles about these things gives me more freedom to write exactly what I want to write without limits on characters and formatting. I can even stick more of my silly jokes in them!

How can we support Magical Stage?

At the moment, Magical Stage is a one man show run by…me. There’s no other writers on here. I also don’t think it’s a particularly good idea for me to be asking for people’s money when I’ve just started the website and I’ve not even got any articles on here yet. So right now, there’s no Patreon or Kofi for Magical Stage. Maybe one day, once this website becomes more established then maybe some form of donations will exist for the site.

What you can do to support the website, is by spreading the word that the website exists. If you like an article, do share it! It’s said that traditional anime blogging is a dying art these days, heck even when I started writing blog posts in 2017 I was being told that anime blogging was a dying art! Let’s prove those people wrong!

The all seeing eye of the shachou.

Anything else?

Not really, enjoy your day folks! Go watch some anime or something until the next article on Magical Stage! Bye~been!

I’m happy the many interesting threads and write-ups you’ve posted on social media will be easier to find and link to in the future!

    • Twitter is great in the moment but nothing beats how easy it is to find stuff on a website!

I like how your personality showed through this article. It’s not lengthy with unnecessary wording; it’s a nice, concise, and fun introduction! I’ve been reading too many informative articles recently that I’ve completely forgotten the beautiful art form of blogging. Thanks for the read!
