Hello everyone, we have an interview with the voice actresses for Cure Answer and Cure Mystique today, with Hikari Senga and Kaede Hondo respectively. Though the unusual thing is that this interview was actually conducted before the reveal of Cure Eclair! While you lot may know about her true identity at this point, let’s just pretend that we don’t for the purposes of this interview.
In this interview, Senga and Hondo talk more about the Cure Eclair Mystery up to Episode 23 of the anime as well as sharing what their favourite episode of the show is up to now! Will your favourite episode be the same as theirs? Will I force you to click on this link?
Let’s read the interview!
Translation by “nui”, Editing by me – Hikari Senga and Kaede Hondo Interview was originally published in Animedia in July 2026.

All the Cure Eclair Candidates are Super Suspicious!
Interviewer: The story has reached Episode 23, and right now the “Who is Cure Eclair!?” campaign is totally blowing up. Episode 21 was the Eliza Kurusu episode, episode 22 focused on Shiruku Ieiri, Episode 23 featured Kurea Howa, and Episode 24 will be all about Rei Kaneda. Can you tell us your thoughts on the broadcasted Episodes 21 through 23?
Hikari Senga: Everyone says things that make you think, “Maybe she’s Cure Eclair,” so it keeps your heart pounding every single time. In Episode 21, “The Detective Ellie’s Case Files, Continued!?”, we found out that Eliza’s lifelong dream was to be a detective. It was also super interesting when she visited Mikuru’s room and said she felt “calm” there.
Kaede Hondo: It was so fun watching Eliza use her natural powerhouse energy to boss around not just Anna and Mikuru, but even her editor!
Senga: In Shiruku’s spotlight for Episode 22, “Shiruku’s Resolve,” it was incredibly cool when she flat out declared, “the audience waiting for the stage is the most important thing.” I really felt her actor’s spirit and her Precure spirit in those words.
Hondo: Episode 22 really pulled me in with the clash of emotions between Cure Arcana Shadow and the Cure Answer & Cure Mystique duo. The directing that overlapped the battling Precure with Shiruku’s acting was so hype. Speaking of hype, it was great to catch a glimpse of the passionate side of the usually calm Cure Arcana Shadow, or Luluka.
Senga: Even in Kurea’s episode 23, “Kurea, Sleuthing, And Ice Cream,” we got to see Luluka getting pretty emotional with Kurea, right?
Hondo: I always had this image that Luluka doesn’t let other people sway her emotions, so it was honestly surprising to see her feelings get moved that much by Kurea. We got to see a totally hidden side of Luluka, and Kurea, who managed to bring that out of her, is… well, pretty suspicious. I bet Rei Kaneda’s Episode 24 will be suspicious too. Honestly, everyone is just way too suspicious!

Anna and Mikuru Have Really Grown!
Interviewer: Out of all the episodes related to Anna and Mikuru so far, which ones left the biggest impression on you?
Senga: For me, it definitely has to be Episode 17, “Memories with Mom.” This episode made it totally clear that Anna was hiding a lot of loneliness and sadness in her heart. Even in the recording process itself, it’s a deeply memorable episode for me.
Hondo: I’ve talked about this before, but my number one favorite is definitely Episode 5, “Star Detectives In Trouble!”, where Anna and Mikuru had their very first fight. Up until then, they were miraculously in sync, but they finally clashed in Episode 5. Seeing them bicker in front of Nijee using their ahoge was adorable, and the scene where they talk it out through their tears at the beach really hit me right in the chest. I just love that episode. I really feel like that whole event helped them both grow leaps and bounds.
Interviewer: Anna and Mikuru each got brand new attacks in Episode 14, “Pochitan’s First Outing!”, and Episode 16, “Detective Ellie’s Case Files!?”. What was the recording like for those new moves?
Senga: Cure Answer’s “Precure! Answer Hanamaru Sword!” is a ridiculously cool move, so I made sure to brace myself and act it out with total focus! The animation for the attack is incredibly well done, which made me really happy.
Hondo: For “Precure! Mystique Strike!“, she does a quick swing of her sword right at the very end of the move, and I was so surprised and moved by how meticulously they animated those tiny details. Since we record the attacks, roll calls, and catchphrases every single time, I always try to think about what Mikuru is feeling in that exact moment. I think there are actually quite a few differences, so I like to compare the roll calls and catchphrases from each episode when I watch the final footage. Building this performance alongside such veteran actors has made me so happy, and it’s been an incredibly precious experience.

Still So Many Things to Wonder About!
Interviewer: Finally, please give a message to the Animedia readers, including what they should look out for moving forward.
Hondo: Right now, everyone is super hyped up for the Cure Eclair arc, but there’s also that “X weeks left” countdown popping up at the end of every episode. What’s going to happen when that hits “0”? The story for the final Eclair candidate, Rei Kaneda, was also super touching, and Lynn’s voice acting for Rei was incredibly passionate and suspicious! I’d love for everyone to watch it and have a blast deducing who Eclair really is.
Senga: And once Cure Eclair’s identity is finally revealed, I hope you’ll pay attention to what her partner fairy, Shushutan, was doing while she was hiding who she was, and see if there were any foreshadowing clues leading up to the big reveal. There are still tons of mysteries outside of Cure Eclair, too! Like why Cure Arcana Shadow is with the Phantom Thieves, why Anna came to 1999, how Mikuru knows about the Star Detectives, and who that person Mikuru looks up to that saved her really is. We’ve got so many things to be curious about! I hope you keep all of that in mind and fully enjoy the upcoming broadcasts!
