Interviewer: Tell us how you felt when you found out you were chosen to play a Precure.
Ikumi Hasegawa: I mean, of course I auditioned for it, but I never actually imagined a future where I’d be voicing a Precure, so I was completely blown away! And right after that, they told me, “Please keep the fact that you’re Cure Eclair a secret from absolutely everyone, including your co-stars.” My head was just full of question marks! It was this crazy mix of surprise, joy, and total confusion. I’ve been holding back this huge urge to tell all my friends and everyone supporting me, so by the time these comments are out, I’m probably happily spilling the beans to everyone!
Interviewer: What do you think is the appeal of the Precure series?
Hasegawa: It’s how they’re both cute and cool at the same time. They’re heroines, but they’re also heroes… and because they have both of those sides, I think that’s why we look up to them so much and get so drawn in.
Interviewer: What’s your impression of Cure Eclair / Kurea Howa, the character you play?
Hasegawa Ikumi: Out of the four Precure, she’s definitely the big sister type. From the way she’s talked with Anna Akechi and the others in the story so far, I get the impression she’s really smart too. But more than anything, she’s a girl who really understands and stays close to people’s hearts. I’m making sure to really value that warm, gentle vibe she has while playing her. Also, pay attention to the gap when she transforms into a Precure! I really hope everyone gets to know a lot more about Cure Eclair from here on out.
Interviewer: What did you think of the “Who is Cure Eclair!?” campaign? And were there any struggles or clever things you had to do since she was shrouded in mystery until now?
Hasegawa: Ever since the campaign started, I’ve literally been counting down the days until today’s reveal! All the other candidate characters were super charming too, so as I’m writing these comments right now, my heart is pounding with a mix of emotions wondering what kind of reactions are waiting for us. But because of that, I’m facing Cure Eclair with an amount of love that I won’t lose to anyone, so that you all will love Cure Eclair and Kurea as much as possible. By the way, I was hiding my identity the whole time at the recording studio too, so making sure my co-stars didn’t find out was tough, but it was really fun! (laughs)
Interviewer: Lastly, give us your renewed enthusiasm for playing Cure Eclair going forward.
Hasegawa: Even from my perspective, Kurea Howa is a girl you just admire. And because I admire her, I’m sure I can express her in a really charming way. I’ve been secretly saving up so much energy up until now! With Cure Eclair joining the team, I’m going to do my absolute best to deliver an even more sparkling Star Detective Precure!.
